Inscription  Sacred to the memory of William Russell Simpson, Esqr., late Captain, 28th Regiment Bombay N.I., and Commandant of the Ahmednuggar Police Corps, who doparted this life on the 21st January 1848 in the 33rd year of his age, while residing at the Neilgherry Hilld on sick leave. This tomb is erected to his memory as a mark of esteen for his many admirable qualities by his brother offficers.
