| Surname | Taylor | | Rank | Captain | | Occupation or Status | Commander of Ship | | Location | Injediva | | Summary Remarks | The Snow Codabux, Captain Taylor, on her passage from Bengal to Bombay, fell in on the 14th Ultimo, off the Island of Injediva with two large Grab Ships, and eight Gallivats, about eleven at night they bore down upon her, and immediately began a very heavy though ill directed fire, which she returned with great spirit and effect. A close engagement now took place until two o'clock the next morning, the Codabux and the pirates keeping up a brisk and continual fire. A breeze now springing up enabled Captain Taylor to manoeuvre his vessel so as to received little damage, and by direct fire to keep them at a distance and finally to make them move off. One of the Gallivats sunk soon after the engagement ceased, and the Snow has received some damage but fortunately has none of her people either killed or wounded. | | Article Type | News Article | | Issue Number | Vol. VIII, No. 337 | | Issue Day | 22 | | Issue Month | March | | Issue Year | 1792 |
