A body of the enemy consisting of 600 Arabs and some Hindoostanees moved down from the Deo-Pahr Hills intending to take the fortress of Deo-ghur, the former capital of Goandwana. The enemy were encouraged by the disaffected garrison of the fort, who being detected, had previous to the enemy advancing, been displaced by a party from Captain Pedlar's field detachment. The enemy were surprised and dispersed with the capture of their baggage.
