Register Entry  At Ningpo China on the 25th Feb of a pulmonary affection apothecary John McKenzie aged 38 years leaving a mother 5 children and a large circle of friends to deplore his loss Mr McKenzie joined the 49th regt on its first arrival in India and is deeply regretted by both officers and men of the corps to which he has been long attached He landed with his regiment on the 10th Oct 1841 at Chinhae and on the evening of that ****rable day he was attacked with Haemoptysis which eventually brought him to a premature grave in the short space of 4 1/2 months
