CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1849: Writer and Student at the College. 1851: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Tinnevelly. 1855: Acting Head Assistant and afterwards Head Assistant at Tinnevelly. 1856: Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Tinnevelly; Acting Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Trichinopoly. 1857: On medical leave to Europe for 15 months. 1858: Acting Head Assistant, afterwards Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Rajahmundry; Acting Subordinate Judge, Cuddapah. 1859: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate,, Bellary; Acting Sub-Judge, Madura, and at Ootacamund; Subordinate Judge, Combaconum. 1862: Judge of Small Cause Court, Tanjore. 1863: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Tanjore; and at Negapatam. 1864: On furlough to Europe for 3 years. 1867: Out of employ for six months; Acting Judge of Small Cause Court, Madura; Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Tinnevelly. 1868: District and Sessions Judge, Kistna. 1872: Acting District and Sessions Judge, South Arcot. 1874: Retired from service, 23rd June. (Annuitant on the Fund.)
