CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1851: Writer and Student of the College. 1853: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Coimbatore. 1855: Acting Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Malabar. 1856: Special Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Malabar. 1858: Acting Sub-Judge, Calicut. 1859: Deputy Director of Revenue Settlement for the Wynaad Talook in Malabar. 1860: On medical leave for 4 months; Deputy Director of Revenue Settlement with the Salem Party. 1862: On furlough to Europe for 9 months. 1865: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Malabar; but to act as Civil and Sessions Judge, Cuddapah; Acting Collector and Magistrate, Kurnool. 1866: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge at Chingleput, and at Cuddalore, also Civil and Sessions Judge at the latter place; Judge of Small Cause Court, Madura. 1867: Civil and Sessions Judge, Madura. 1868: Civil and Sessions Judge, Calicut; On medical leave for 6 months. 1869: Acting Collector and Magistrate, afterwards Collector' and Magistrate, Malabar; District and Sessions Judge, Vizagapatam. 1870: On special leave for 6 months. 1871: Resumed District and Sessions Judge, Vizagapatam. 1878: On furlough to Europe for 16 months, with extension for another year. 1882: Retired from service, 21st January in England. ( Annuitnant on the Fund.)
