Sparks and Nixon, and Dr. Herbert. A jungle had caught fire, and, it being anticipated that the flames would force numbers of wild animals from their coverts, the officers posted themselves in a tree, and, as they supposed, in a secure position with reference to the wind, waiting the escape of deer, &c. when the wind suddenly changing, the trees and jungle surrounding the officers took fire, and they were entirely overwhelmed and destroyed. |
