Detail  [Pages 85-86. Born 7 March 1754, eldest son of Robert 1st Lord Clive, ""the renowned founder of our Indian empire"" by Margaret Maskelyne. As MP for Ludlow supported the India bill, 1783. In 1802 he was appointed Governor of Madras but he resigned in 1803. He married 7 May 1784 Lady Henrietta Antonia Herbert, dau. of the Earl of Powis. 2 sons and 2 daus]
