Of Tettenhall, Staffordshire, born 25 Dec 1771, eldest child of Thomas Pearson, esq., BA Oxford, who retired early in life to Tettenhall (he d. 1796) by Miss Leake, heiress of John Leake, esq. of Salters Hall, Shropshire (she d. 1832). Called to the bar, Lincoln's Inn. He married 21 Dec 1802 Jane Elizabeth Matilda, eldest dau. of Lieut.-col. Hooke, 17th Foot. The board of the EIC unanimously voted him to be the new Advocate General of Bengal in place of Serjeant Spankie, who returned due to ill health, and embarked for Calcutta April 1824. Returned to England, May 1840, due to ill health. Mrs Pearson, who had returned From India on account of ill health, died 16 Nov 1833. 5 children] |
