Detail  [Aged 83. Of Sleningford Hall, Yorkshire, and of Fillingham Castle, Lincolnshire. 2nd son of John Dalton, esq., EIC, by Isabella, dau. of Sir John Wray, Bt. His elder brother Thomas assumed in 1807 the name of Norcliffe on inheriting the estates of his maternal grandmother, Frances, wife of Sir John Wray, the only dau. of Fairfax Norcliffe, esq. John Dalton sen. died in 1811. John Dalton jr. married in 1783 Susanna, eldest dau. of Gen. Robert Prescott, of Rose Green, Sussex. 5 sons and 4 daus.]
