Inscription  Erected by his friends in memory of Sir John Frederick Dickson, K.C.M.G., Government Agent of the Central Province, and afterwards Colonial Secretary of the Straits Settlements, a faithful servant of the Crown, and a true friend of the Sinhalese. Born September 17th, 1835, died Decr. 21, 1891.
