Inscription  To the glory of God and in loving memory of Lieutenant Evelyn Layard Reeves, 4th Somertshire Lt. Infantry, eldest son of Major E. G. Reeves, Ceylon Mounted Infantry, and Annie J. Reeves, who was drowned while serving his Country in S. Africa, 30th October, 1901, aged 19 years. This tablet is erected by his parents, brothers and sisters.
