Service  Assistant-Surgeon Allen served in 1851 in Medical Charge of a Field Force employed against the Hill Fort of Kureecha in Bundlecund. Served during the siege of Delhi in 1857 in Medical Charge of 4th Irregular Cavalry and in the Hospital of the 2nd Bengal Fusiliers. Present at the assault and capture of the place on the 14th September 1857. Proceeded in September 1857 in Medical Charge of 2nd Bengal Fusiliers with Brigadier Showers' s Column. Present at the taking of Forts Bewaree, Kandund, and Shujjar. Served in the Oude Campaign of 1858-59 with Brigadier Barker's Column. In Medical Charge of the Sirmoor Rifle Regiment. Medal and Clasp.
