Service  Ensign Baxter served under Sir C. Campbell against the Momunds and Hill Tribes north of Peshawur, November and December 1851 to April 1852. Served throughout the Delhi Campaign, 1857; present at the battles of Ghazee-ood-din-nuggur, 30th and 31st May; Badle-ke-serai, 8th June; attack on the Eegah, ] 7th June; repulse of an attack by the enemy, in rear of the camp, 19th June; battle of Nudjufghur, 25th and 26th August 1857; and minor engagements during the siege, (Wounded.} Ensign's Commission. Present at the siege, storm and capture of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, March 1858. Present with General Walpole's Column at the attack on Fort Rooyah, 13th, and action of Allygunge, 20th April 1858. Battle and capture of Bareilly, 5th May 1858, and subsequent affairs at Shahjehanpore, 15th and 18th May 1858. Present at the capture of Fort Bunnee, 23rd, and destruction of the Fort of Mohumdee, 24th May 1858. At the attack and destruction of the Fort of Shahabad, 1st June 1858, under Colonel Taylor, C.B. Medal and 2 Clasps.-
