Received the thanks of Government. Was present with the 23rd Native Infantry when it mutinied at Mhow on 1st July 1857. Served with the 5th Infantry Hyderabad Contingent and 25th Bombay Native Infantry, part of the Central India Field Force, and present with it in the following actions, viz., at the siege and capture of Rathghur in Bundlecund in January '58; at the siege and capture of Jhansi; at the battle of the Betwa; at the capture of the Mud Fort of Loharree; at the action of Koonch. Medal and Clasp. At the operations before, and taking of Calpee. Served with Her Majesty's 79th Highlanders as Interpreter in the following actions in Oude; at the taking of Rampore Russea, 3rd November '58, at the passage of the Gogra before Fyzabad, and subsequent pursuit of the enemy with the Cavalry, and at the affair at Muchlee Gawn. |
