Service  Lieutenant Brown, V. C., served with his Regiment (the 1st Bengal Fusiliers) at the battle of Badlee-ka-Serai, 8th June '57. At Nuzzufghur, 25th August '57, with the Force under Brigadier-General Nicholson. Present in all the engagements before the walls of Delhi and at the assault and capture of the city, 14th September '57. Served with his Regiment at Narnoul, 16th November '57, with the Force under Brigadier Gerrard. Served with his Regiment with the Force under Brigadier Sir T. Seaton, K.C.B., in the actions of Gungeeree, 14th December '57; Puttiallee, 17th December '57; and Mynpooree, 27th December '57. Served with his Regiment with the Force under Command of His Excellency the Commander-ia-Chief, at the storm and capture of Lucknow, March '58, and in all the subsequent affairs in which his Regiment was engaged, till it marched into quarters, April '59. V. C. Medal and 2 Clasps.
