Service  Lieutenant Chapman was present at Meean Meer on the out­break of the Mutiny, 57. Present at the action of Narnoul, 16th November 57, when serving with 1st Bengal Fusiliers in the Column under Command of Brigadier Gerrard. Present at actions of Gungeeree, 14th; Puttiallee, 17th; and Mynpooree, 27th December 57, with the Column under Brigadier Seaton. Commanded a Detachment of Alexanders Horse in several minor affairs against the rebels in the Etawah District, in 58. Present at the action of Creyah, 16th May 58, charger twice wounded, with the Mynpooree Moveahle Column. Present at the action of Dewsa, 14th January 59, when Commanding a Detachment of Alexanders Horse. Mentioned in the Despatch of Brigadier Showers, 10th March 59. Served with a second Column under Brigadier Showers, from January to April 59, when in pursuit of the rebels through Rajpootanah and Central India. Served in the Bundlecund Campaign with Brigadier Wheelers Force, in 59, and with No. 2 Bundlecund Flying Column, in 59, 60, Commanding a Detachment of Alexanders Horse. Medal.
