Service  Captain Elderton served during the Punjab Campaign, including the affair of Ramnuggur, passage of the Chenab, and actions of Chillianwallah and Goojerat. (Wounded.} Medal and Clasp. Accompanied the Army under Sir W. E. Gilbert, in pursuit of the Sikhs and Affghans. Was severely wounded at the assault of Delhi, and was present during the whole of the siege. Was present with his Regiment during the operations before Delhi, siege and capture of the City, on the 14th September 57. (Severely wounded.) (Passed in Surveying, Civil Engineering, and Field Engineering, and obtained a first class certificate in Musketry.)
