Commanded 2nd Punjab Infantry throughout the Mutinies, 57, 58. Present at the siege, assault, and capture of Delhi, including the battle of Nudjufghur, with Colonel Greatheds Column in the actions of Boolundshuhur, Allyghur, and Agra; throughout the final relief of Lucknowby the Army under Lord Clyde, November 57. Present at the operations at Cawnpore, from 30th November to 7th December 57. Battle of Khodagunge, January 58. Throughout the siege and capture of Lucknow, March 58. Campaign in Rohilcund, May 58, and re-capture of Bareilly. Wounded slightly at the assault on Delhi, 14th September 57. C.B. and Medal, and 3 Clasps. Mentioned in Despatch of Brigadier-General Nicholson, 4th December 57. Received the thanks of Government, 10th, 23rd, and 24th December 57, and 5th April 58. Mentioned in Despatch of Brigadier-General Sir H. Grant, 12th April 58. In Despatch of His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief, 8th May 58. Promoted to Brevet-Majority for service before Delhi, 19th January58. To the rank of Brevet-Lieutenant-Colonel for services during the relief of Lucknow, 24th March 58. Commanded 2nd Punjab Infantry in the expedition against the Mahsood Wuzeerees, April and May 60. Present at the action with the Wuzeerees at the Burrara Pass, 4th May 60.
