Service  Lieutenant-Colonel Wroughton, C.B., served in the Punjab Campaign, 49: present throughout the operations in the vicinity, including the attack on the Dhurmsalla, wounded, and siege and surrender of Mooltan and battle of Goojerat. Medal and Clasp. Served during the Mutinies, 57, 58. Had Military Charge and Command of Colonel Pulwan Sings Division of Nepalese Troops; with these Troops he kept clear, for four months, the Frontier Districts of Azimghur and Jounpore. Commanded in the affairs of Bughah, 18th August 57, at the attack on the intrenched dwelling of Rajah Idanut Jehan (a noted rebel in the Jounpore District), leading to his capture and execution, after a prolonged bombardment of his house. Present at the aifair of Khoodwah on the 19th October 57, which ended in the signal defeat of the enemy, and capture of their camp. Received the thanks of the Lieutenant-Governor, Central Provinces. Commanded at the severe action of Chanda (1st), when 1,000 Goorkhas attacked and beat off 5,000 Oude Troops, capturing their artillery, ammunition, and camp. Received the thanks of the Lieutenant-Governor, Central Provinces. Received the special thanks of the Governor-General in Council in December 57, for services performed whilst in Military Charge of the Nepalese Troops. Marched through Oude with Brigadier-General Franks Column. Was present at the attack on Chanda (2nd), and affair of Umeerapore, on the 19th February 58, and battle of Sultanpore, on the 24th of the same month. Was present throughout the siege and capture of Lucknow. Promoted to Major by Brevet. Medal and Clasps, and C.B.
