Received the thanks of the Government of Bengal, dates of letter about 15th October and 20th November 57. Services in China in 58. Rejoined the 70th Native Infantry at Canton, 1st April 58. Present at the White Cloud Mountain Affair. Present at the repulse of the Chinese at the Landing Pier. Present at the repulse of the Chinese at the Magazine Hill. Medal. Dates of acts of bravery, 2nd October and 2nd November 57. Lieutenant Daunt and ————— are recommended for conspicuous gallantry in action on the 2nd October 57, with the mutineers of the Ramghur Battalion, at Chota Behar, in capturing 2 guns, particularly the last, when they rushed at and captured it by pistoling the gunners, who were mowing the Detachment down with grape, one-third of which was hors de combat at the time. |
